Brewing Instructions: Prepare a clean glass cup, add 3-5 grams of tea leaves, pour in 85-90 degrees Celsius hot water, let it steep for 3-5 seconds, then drink. Do not steep for too long or let it soak.

Listening to the elders’ stories, the tea culture in Sichuan was very strong. People often gathered in groups of three or five to tea houses for the covered-bowl (Gaiwan) tea while watching Sichuan opera performances inside. For people at that time, it was like a heavenly life. Speaking of covered-bowl tea, one cannot fail to mention the “Hua Maofeng” which has been cherished by tea enthusiasts for many years. In the bowl, several flower petals float on the surface of the tea water, which need to be gently pushed aside or removed with the lid to taste the tea underneath.

Hua Maofeng from Mengding Mountain is a special jasmine tea from Sichuan. It is made from green tea leaves from Mengding Mountain, mainly consisting of tender leaves with a small amount of buds. The tea is rolled and processed with jasmine flowers from Jianwei, Sichuan. The brewed tea has a strong fragrance, is durable in steeping, and is reasonably priced.

Jasmine tea is made by repeatedly scenting green tea with jasmine flowers. By the principle of fresh flowers imparting fragrance to the tea leaves, the floral aroma is infused into the tea, making it a type of reprocessed tea.

Purchase Advice: The production processes for different Jasmine tea are generally the same, with differences mainly in the selection of tea leaves and the number of scenting sessions. Higher-priced varieties have finer and more tender tea leaves with a lighter taste, while lower-priced ones have a relatively stronger tea flavor and durability in steeping.
